The Herbs

Ordinarily, you will be given a herbal remedy following your consultation. The remedy usually consists of a blend of several different herbs. The specific blend will be tailor made to fit the requirements of your individual needs and complaint.
The herbs come in a variety of preparations; the preparation you receive will depend upon the nature of your complaint and other factors. The main preparations are listed below:
- Alcohol based tincture - The appropriate part of the plant with the medicinal action will have been steeped in alcohol for a given length of time and removed to leave a medicinal tincture. Either the leaf, flower, fruit, seed, bark, berry or resin may be used. To be taken as a medicine, 5ml is usually taken 3 times a day, mixed in water or fruit juice.
- Tablets - The concentrated dried herb is rendered down to powder to make a tablet. These are beneficial if you can't have alcohol for any reason.
- Dried herbs - These can be used to make infusions or decoctions for medicinal herbal teas to treat a variety of complaints.
