The Consultation
The initial consultation will last between an hour and a hour and a half. During this time, we will discuss the details of your complaint and take an in-depth look at your full medical history. This will include things such as:
- Details of any medication you may being taking
- Details of any previous illnesses
- Information regarding investigations and tests that you may have had
- The health of your family members
- An overview of your diet
- Your emotional well being
- A review of all the major systems in your body (such as cardiovascular system, respiratory system etc)
At the end of the consultation, your blood pressure will be taken other physical examinations may be performed to aid diagnosis. I may also refer you back to your GP or other healthcare practitioner if necessary.
A herbal remedy which is tailor-made to fit the requirements of your complaint, is usually prescribed following your consultation. Click here for more details on the types of herbal medication.
To monitor your progess and the effectiveness of the herbs, it is usual to come for a follow up appoitnment at 4 weeks following the first consultation. Follow up appointments last for around 30 minutes.
