About the Medical Herbalist

I have had an interest in Herbal Medicine and Ethnobotany since childhood and have long believed that the natural world holds a wealth of remedies to treat many common ailments. The desire to expand my knowledge in the area and learn all I could about plant medicine inspired my pursuit to gain a university education in the subject.

I trained for my degree for 4 years at The University of East London where I gained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) with honours in Herbal Medicine (Phytotherapy). The majority of the subjects studied on the degree are the same as those studied on a medical degree, with areas covered such as: anatomy, physiology, clinical medicine, clinical diagnosis, differential diagnosis, pharmacology, biochemistry, dietetics, immunology, microbiology and evidence based medicine. As a Medical Herbalist, I have been trained to be proficient in the same clinical and diagnostic skills as a G.P.

I also have an interest in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with botanical medicine
after writing my dissertation on the subject.

I am a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH); the longest established professional body who have regulated the practice of Herbal Medicine in the The UK since 1864. The NIMH only allow members who have the Herbal Medicine degree qualification which ensures that its members have been trained to the highest professional standards and abide by a strict code of ethics.

I attend continuing professional development courses on a regular basis to keep up to date with the latest research into Herbal Medicine.

I practice in Leamington Spa, Birmingham and Solihull. Please see contact details for further information.
